LET ME TELL YA! presents two events on one day

The Malaga Ship: a story of Maine and the Middle Passage

featuring award-winning storyteller Antonio Rocha

The Malaga Ship was a brig built in Maine and used to traffic Africans to the Americas, particularly Brazil, in the 1800s.  In this tour de force performance Antonio mimes, sings, and narrates his way into the heart wrenching journey which is lead in part by the ship herself.

Saturday, March 15th at 7 pm

(doors open at 6:30 pm)

For ages 12 and up

Runtime: 45 minutes plus a 30 minute talk-back following the performance

Transitions—the moments in a story where we shift between one thought and the next—are hidden gems tucked away in a story well told. Whether you’re your family’s unofficial historian or a professional teller, learning to master these moments will give your stories extra polish and finesse. This workshop will teach you how to identify and develop the transitions within your stories by practicing techniques with voice and body language.
